Incoming movie review and synopsis (2024)
Commencing their first year of high school, Danah 'Koosh' Koushani, Eddie, Connor, and Benj have big hopes for the future. Benji wants to woo Bailey, his elder sister Alyssa's best friend, over to his way on Soap2Day HD Movies. Koosh is aiming to attain the same social standing as his older brother, while Connor and Eddie are trying to win over some girls. Following a turbulent first week as freshmen, during which they fall in love with Katrina and meet the cool teacher Mr. Studebaker, they encounter their greatest obstacle to date: their first high school party. Being one of those people who grew up in the 1980s and saw teen movies come back in the 1990s, I've always felt lucky. While there have been some excellent youth-focused movies made in the twenty-first century.
"Incoming" starts off with a humor that reminded me of "American Pie," which made me have high hopes for the movie. But it quickly becomes clear that Dave Chernin and John Chernin have taken gags from better films and added profanity to make people laugh. Although I accept that the profanity would be appropriate for fourteen-year-olds in 2024, it seems manufactured, as though they are competing with one another. As a result, the movie mostly consists of crude comedy and bad gags. To their credit, the writers divide up the four main characters into discrete storylines after they arrive at the party, and each young man does a credible job of acting. Isabella Ferreira gives a powerful performance as well.
Bobby Cannavale, who is usually dependable, plays a middle-aged instructor at the party with an unsettling manner. I understand the character's motivation, but comedian Matt Rife's portrayal of a younger teacher trying to relive his glory days could have worked better. Even though I like their show "The Mick," I haven't looked into the writers' work on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." It's possible that this movie's humor leans more toward the latter.
